The mission statement of the Girdwood Health Clinic, Inc. (GHCI) is:
To provide health care to all visitors and residents of the Turnagain Arm communities regardless of the ability to pay.
The Girdwood Clinic became a designated FQHC in September 2015. Since that time, the Clinic has transitioned from a mostly acute care, walk-in clinic to the HRSA FQHC model of a traditional primary care clinic. Staffing has increased to include a family practice physician, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, a licensed clinical social worker, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, case management staff, and eligibility assistance staff. In 2018, integrated behavioral health services were added which includes medication management and therapy. During the COVID pandemic of 2020-2021, the clinic became a critical public health partner providing testing, vaccination and treatment options to all patients in need. The Fall of 2021 brought the beginning of construction on a new, 7500 square foot state-of-the art facility. In June 2022 the old facility was demolished and clinical operations moved into the new facility. In November 2022 the entire construction project was completed including the new clinical facility, as well as an administrative wing.
