BEFORE YOU HIT YOUR HEAD…Pre-season baseline concussion testing is now available for FREE at the Girdwood Health Clinic!
What is a baseline test? Concussion baseline testing is a pre-season assessment conducted by a trained health care professional. The SCAT5 test is used to assess brain function. It allows for a normal or pre-injury test comparison should a person suffer a head injury. Testing memory skills, ability to concentrate, balance, and how quickly an athlete can solve problems are all part of the evaluation. Baseline testing provides a measure of normal cognitive functioning. After a blow to the head, signs of head injury can be detected by comparing new test scores to baseline scores.
For more information or to schedule your free test please call the Girdwood Health Clinic at 783-1355.
(Note: children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian or have a signed release prior to testing.)
